The British comedian – who is to present the Golden Globe Awards for the second year running next month – explained while he only takes on projects that have the potential to “end” his career, he doesn’t anticipate hosting the ceremony will be problematic.

He said: “What’s the worst that can happen? I only do things that can end my career - that’s the fun, that’s my extreme sport. “I think if you get final edit, which I do and I demand, and you get your own way and you’re happy with what you’ve done, nothing else matters. You’re bulletproof.”

Ricky – who faced an avalanche of criticism last year after insulting the likes of Robert Downey Jr. and Johnny Depp during the ceremony – insists he’s “not trying to hurt anyone’s feelings” with his gags, and claims the subject of his previous jokes are “cool” with him.

Speaking at the HBO Television Critics Association Winter 2012 Session, he added to ‘Access Hollywood’: “I’ve got nothing against any of those people in the room. I’ve worked with many of them, I like many of them, I admire most of them."

I don’t know who was really outraged last year, ‘cause everyone I spoke to, who I made a joke about, was cool with it.”
