You've heard of “Gangnam Style” and have seen the dance moves all over the internet (the video has over 130 million views on YouTube) but what is it? Korean Rapper and YouTube sensation PSY stopped by the “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” studio to tell us just where this craze came from! Check out the video above and part two below.

Okay, so is name isn’t really PSY…he tells us: “My original name is Jason Park, so it’s totally different.” And he is still getting used to the idea of being an overnight star in America. “I’m walking down the street like: ‘Why I’m here? Why I’m here?’ I’ve done this 12 years in Korea and I’m rookie here now.” Watch Part 1 of Ryan’s interview below!

“I just had a show in Korea, which was 35,000 people. That was really huge in Korea,” PSY says. So, how long did it take for this dance craze to take off in South Korea? “The release was on July 15th and it exploded within 3 days.”

“I was at Berklee College of Music in Boston, but I’ve been a freshman for 4 years,” the rapper admits. So, why didn’t the PSY advance? “Class was too early for me.”

“The K-Pop artists in this country, most of them are boy bands or girl bands and most of them are junior to me in Korea. So, I was the guy when they go overseas and then come back to Korea, ‘So PSY, we did this, we did that.’ And I said, ‘Congratulations, I will buy you a drink.’ That was my role in Korea, I never expected I’d become a K-Pop star. That was my job, buy a drink to the juniors who goes overseas.”

PSY’s manager, Scooter Braun tells us: “I had a friend from Korea who sent me the video when it had about 1.6 million view, I think you said it was 9 days old. He wrote to me, ‘isn’t this hilarious?’ I watched it and I wrote him back, ‘Find him.’ Then he said: ‘Why?’ I said, ‘Because I want to sign him.’ and he goes, ‘You’re kidding? It’s a K-Pop artist and it’s in Korean.’ And I said, ‘Yeah, when I was a kid I loved Snow’s ‘Informer’ and I didn’t know what he was saying either.’ So, they got in touch with PSY and PSY’s response was ‘Why?’ Then he came over the the states, we finally met, and we started talking business and he said, ‘This is very nice, but I’d rather just take you to Koreatown tonight and drink.’” Watch Part 2 of Ryan’s interview below!

“Gangnam is a certain territory in Korea, the spot is noble in daytime and going crazy at nighttime. So, I just described about a lady and gentleman who’s noble at daytime and going crazy at nighttime. PSY explains. You may have noticed that the only recognizable English lyrics in the song are “sexy lady.” So, why did PSY choose to use a little bit of English? “Because I cannot find any other words…sexy lady is sexy lady,” he tells us.

“Especially for ‘Gangnam Style’ I try to dress as classy and dance cheesy. I want that kind of twist and that kind of contrast,” he explains. What gave the rapper the idea for this look? “In Korea, July is really hot and economics not good. So, as a 12-year-old entertainer my only job was to make people laugh.”

“I have twins,” PSY tells us. “They are born October 1st, so they are 4-years. 2007 October 1st. So, they are 4-years old in United States and they are 6-years old in Korea.” So, do the kids know that their dad is a huge star? “They know the word concert. So, they know father’s job is concert. They prefer concert than father.”

Everyone who’s being buzzed about in music right now is on the line-up for the iHeartRadio Music Festival. However, there’s one name that’s missing from that list…PSY. So, Ryan asked the guy responsible for “Gangnam Style” if he would consider coming to the concert and coming on stage? PSY’s response: “If that happens…from now on, you are my manager. I want to sign with you, not Scooter.” To which Ryan replied: “We are officially booking you to Las Vegas to perform!”
